So I don't know if I'm the only one, but I've been unable to get on covblogs for the last week. I've missed it, but I've also written nine pages of my SIP, so it's probably okay.
Within the last few days, needing something to listen to while I write my SIP and tune out my roommates, I have become obsessed with Bright Eyes. I don't know whether it's so much because of the music or because Conor Oberst makes me feel so much better about Omaha. I've been listening to Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground and I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning mainly. I love the sound of a native Omahan singing about living in New York City. I guess I've been kind of dragged down by the fact that my family lives in Omaha, but listening to Bright Eyes gives me hope. But listening to Bright Eyes and reading Eliot's "The Wasteland" and Nietzche's The Antichrist don't really make me feel good about life in general.
Now it's Easter Break, and I'm stuck in a Best Western off of I-24 when I could be in Dr. Barker's Poetry class. But no, my bitch of a roommate, Laura Neale, decided we had to leave this afternoon, even though she's been having problems with her headlights. But it's cool man, at least they have high speed internet.

I have a question for you about a mutual friend.
please email me: bob at 3hd dot com
thanks!
I haven't heard much Bright Eyes, but what I have heard wasn't too bad. I heard that their latest record is more electronic than their previous releases. Since I'm into electronic music, I might want to give it a listen.
Have you ever listened to anything by The Faint? They're on the same label as Bright Eyes. They're more dance-oriented. Good party music.
Yeah, "The Waste Land" can certainly mees you up.... I used to read the entire thing aloud to myself, using different voices for the different characters. "SHANTIH SHANTIH SHANTIH"...
