effingham

While I was taking the train around Britain with my free-to-go-anywhere railpass it crossed my mind to just find places with cool names and go there. I contemplated Chipping Sodbury and Weston-Super-Mare, but the best name I found was Effingham, reminded me of Fukushima, a Japanese town name I encountered in an extremely painful book I was assigned in college. I had no idea where said Effingham was, so I never got there, but I just discovered that several times on my rovings I was about five minutes away from the legendary Effingham, which is just outside Guildford. I hope there are some out there who may benefit from this knowledge.

One time my family picked up an injured rabbit in the parking lot of a hotel in Effingham, Illinois. We named her Effie. As it turns out, she was blind, and she died after running herself into the wall of her cage too many times.

Also, I have a friend who lives in Weston-Super-Mare.

I've been travaling by the point-and-go method too. I just got back from Aberystwyth, Wales (a seaside town). Maybe I'll go to Effingham... but we'll see.

I haven't been here since you turned it all seafoam colored. It makes me think that your blog refused to plunge a knife into the body of the man it loved as he lay in the arms of his bride, and threw itself onto the merciless waves where it instantly dissolved into this color - and is now wafting its way through the world collecting laughter and tears of little babylings. *sigh* What a beautiful thought.
